Do you ever have one of those days when you feel like you will never get anything done, when there is way too much to do? You realize that on top of all the work stuff you have no gas in your car, you haven’t done laundry and there is nothing in the refrigerator? It feels like it would be simpler to just give up and do nothing.
The best option is usually to take bite sized chunks and chip away until you begin to see a bit of space. Some will find it effective to tidy their workspace or home before delving into their tasks, whereas for others that is just another road towards more procrastination. “I will just organize my sock drawer and then will get started on everything else” (you know who you are!).
Make sure that you factor in other strategies that may help you. Making lists clarifies what needs doing, giving yourself rewards gives you something to aim for and taking breaks, if possible outside, can provide a much needed energy boost.
Every important project begins with a simple first step and successful people start before they are ready. So if you are having one of those days, grit your teeth, dive in and get started. Because you rarely hear anyone say they wish they had put it off for another day.
Feel free to comment. I would love to hear what helps you to get through overwhelming days.
