A Guide To A Happy Life

I have read hundreds of blogs, articles and books on success, happiness and how to live a happy life in the last few years.
There is no one secret to happiness.  There are ways to make life better, easier and hopefully, ultimately happier. The following list is a culmination of what I discovered. A list of 77  thoughts and ideas that can make life happier.

A Guide To A Happy Life in 77 Steps

  1. We get what we focus on.
  2. You are not responsible for another person’s happiness
  3. You cannot do everything.
  4. Yet you can do anything if you are prepared to do the work.
  5. Travel with an open mind will improve your life.
  6. There are ways to get more money, time is more precious.
  7. Honor your parents, they won’t be around forever.
  8. Ice cream is magical.
  9. Stand up for yourself you can’t wait for someone else to do it for you.
  10. Your mind and body are completely connected.
  11. Good deeds do good for both giver and receiver.
  12. Our soul needs to spend some time outside.
  13. Planting a tree is a good legacy.
  14. Multitasking is a myth.
  15. You don’t have to be ‘good’ at meditation for it to be ‘good’ for you.
  16. Putting yourself in someone else’s shoes could save a friendship.
  17. Taking a whole day to watch TV or generally doing nothing is completely legal.
  18. A little of what you fancy does you good.
  19. You could be a lot happier with less stuff, try decluttering.
  20. You will never change anyone’s mind by arguing (especially online). If you must debate do it calmly, if you can’t, walk away. It’s good practice for emotional intelligence.
  21. Reading the comments is rarely a good idea.
  22. Gratitude and happiness are created equally.
  23. People are generally good.
  24. It’s ok to move on when they behave as if they are not.
  25. It’s also ok to give second chances.
  26. We can choose our attitude.
  27. You are smarter than you think.
  28. Saying no means you can say yes more often.
  29. Drugs can’t make us happy.
  30. We should do our best not to judge others.
  31. It is never too late.
  32. If a hundred year old man can complete a marathon, think what you can do.
  33. You know what to do, you just have to listen.
  34. Music is a really good healer.
  35. The more you love the more you are loved.
  36. Restrictive diets for weight loss are not the answer long term .
  37. Your body knows what it needs.
  38. You can find an exercise you will like
  39. Relationships require compromise.
  40. Relationships are good.
  41. Compromise is good.
  42. Animals don’t really care.
  43. We should be like animals sometimes.
  44. Success often boils down to choosing one thing and doing it really well.
  45. Relationships go through tough times it doesn’t have to be the end.
  46. Tell the person who hurt you, not everyone else.
  47. Forgive.
  48. Changing your environment is only half of the solution.
  49. Temporary emotions can lead to lasting regret.
  50. Randomly wearing your best clothes can change your mood and those around you.
  51. It’s not a bargain if you will never use it, wear it or love it.
  52. You don’t have to repost anything on social media (even for an hour) to prove you care.
  53. There are many things that can make us feel better that are not medicine.
  54. Not everyone wants your help or advice.
  55. Getting involved in other people’s relationship disputes is generally not a good idea.
  56. If it feels wrong don’t do it.
  57. Saying “because I don’t want to” is a perfectly reasonable adult response.
  58. Friends don’t hold grudges.
  59. If it won’t work, you might be able to learn to fix it from a  YouTube video.
  60. Warm bath, clean sheets and a good nights sleep will solve many things.
  61. If you go to bed thinking about it and and wake up with it on your mind, it is demanding your attention for a reason.
  62. Nice people are not mean to those serving the public.
  63. One door closing is often the best thing that could happen.
  64. Life can be an adventure if you get on board.
  65. It’s rarely a good idea to buy stuff from people at your door.
  66. Your reality is yours alone.
  67. No one is as bothered about the mistake you made as you are.
  68. You will make mistakes, unless you are a robot then you will malfunction.
  69. Take vacations.
  70. If someone hit you once, they will probably do it again.
  71. You are powerful.
  72. If someone else does it you can too.
  73. If it was easy everyone would be doing it.
  74. Overnight success can take years.
  75. Find something to laugh about and someone to laugh with, you will live longer.
  76. Do things that are pointless but fun.
  77. This is YOUR life. You own it outright don’t sign it over to someone else.
